What invalidates the warranty on Apple products?
  • Unauthorised tampering: If the equipment is found to have been tampered with or repaired by a non-certified technician and/or to have unauthorised modifications, the product will not be repaired under warranty or out of warranty.
  • Blows: The technicians must evaluate the physical condition of the product and in case of any blow or imperfection, they will not be able to proceed to process the guarantee.
  • Liquid spills: Apple devices have sensors that detect the presence of liquids inside the device, which voids the warranty.
  • Shocks and liquid damage are not covered by the regular warranty.
  • The Applecare+ Protection Plan covers you for up to 2 incidents, ask for service options.

Make sure your Mac is ready for service | Complete as many steps as possible before repairing your Mac to save time and protect your data.

Having a backup is important in case it is necessary to erase or replace the computer's boot disk during service.

Depending on availability in your area, you can make a reservation at an Apple Store, take your Mac to an Apple-authorized service provider, or arrange for shipping by mail. If you participate in an Apple Service Program, you should also follow any additional steps required by that program.

To ensure that the service technician can perform any necessary diagnostics, please complete these steps. If you cannot, the technician may need to discuss options with you.

If you are concerned about the security of your data during service, activate FileVault or delete your data. To do this, for example, delete all content and settings.

If you take the Mac to a service point:

  • You may also need your Apple ID password and a personal identification document, such as your driver's license, passport or other official ID.

  • Make sure you know your macOS user account name and password, in case you need to log in to your Mac when you are at the point of service.

  • If you take the Mac to a service point, also bring the power cord and any accessories you need help with.

  • If you have arranged for service by mail, follow the instructions you received for packing and mailing.
